Hi everyone, 👋
It has been quite a while since I posted a devlog. But here we are finally, proud to announce the new and improved Gyzer-Zero!
Complete with a new map layout, new environmental assets, 3 unique enemies, multiple obstacles, a simple combat system and a better boss fight experience. It also features a highscore, best time and rank grading system.

Gyzer is mainly inspired from Megaman X4's Zero with some influences to other characters like Raiden in MGRR and Strider Hiryu. Also one of my favorite games "Devil May Cry 5" inspired the weapon of Gyzer and the jumping attack mechanic. If it's not yet obvious, I'm a bit of a Capcom fan 😅. Also if you guys are familiar with Grandchase (the side-scrolling version), then you'll probably see some similarities as well.

It's been so much fun producing and developing this game on my own, I definitely learned a lot of new game dev tricks! Also, this is the first time I created a complicated combat system. It required so many animations, programming, testing and of course, bug-fixing. That's why it took a long time to finish. Though it's still not the best version I think it could be, I believe the game now offers a much more solid experience. I originally planned to add an ultimate skill mechanic, cutscenes, as well as create original music tracks, but unfortunately it didn't get done within the time I alloted. However, Gyzer-Zero is definitely an IP that I can expand upon in the future. For now, it's time for me to move on to my other projects.

Next up will be Freakbalang, a short horror game I started last October. Planning to release the update near the end of February.
